The finish on a steel shoring prop decides how long it survives on site. The two common options are painted and hot-dip galvanized.
Painted props
Painting is the lower-cost option and looks clean when new. It protects well indoors and for short reuse cycles, but paint chips at the threads and base, where rust then starts.
Galvanized props
Hot-dip galvanizing coats the whole prop, inside and out, with zinc. It resists rust far longer in rain, humidity and coastal air, and the thread stays cleaner over many reuse cycles.
Which to choose
- Indoor or dry, fast turnover: painted is economical
- Outdoor, humid, coastal or long rental life: galvanized
- Custom brand color required: painted with custom RAL
