A smooth, fair-faced concrete surface saves plastering time and looks professional. Steel formwork makes it achievable when used correctly.
Start with flat, tight panels
Steel panels stay flat and join tightly, avoiding the steps and bulges that timber joints leave. Align panel edges carefully and clamp them firmly.
Use the right release agent
A thin, even coat of release agent stops concrete sticking and gives a clean strip with no surface tear-out. Avoid pooling, which leaves marks.
Place and vibrate carefully
- Pour in even layers
- Vibrate enough to release air, not so much that you segregate the mix
- Strip at the right time for the surface to set cleanly
Our steel formwork panels are built flat and true for a smooth as-cast finish. Request sizes for your project.
